Gary E. Pia is the Founder and Owner of G.E. Pia & Company. He began his career in financial services in 1978 joining the training program at Merrill Lynch. In 1981 he joined Transamerica Occidental Life Insurance Company’s innovative securities dealer marketing initiative then at the forefront of the financial industry’s first efforts to open the door to holistic advisory practices. In 1986 he began a new career phase as an independent financial and investment consultant. He founded G.E. Pia & Company as a registered investment advisor in 1989. With the firm’s founding Pia was once again at the forefront of innovation by adopting a client focused, asset class, fee only business model.
Gary is a mentor, teacher and highly regarded public speaker and is known for his community service. He has been an active volunteer for the American Cancer Society (ACS) for over 20 years. He currently chairs the national investment committee for the ACS. In 2009 he was honored with the Society’s Volunteer Lifetime Service award. In 2010 he was named an Honorary Life Member of the ACS California Division Board.
He is a Past-Chair of the Board for the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. He has served as a member of two advisory boards for the South Pasadena Unified School District. He is a member of the advisory board to the Pacific Film Foundation. He helped found the inaugural South Pasadena High School Girls Golf team in 2008.
Gary is also a musician and enjoys performing with his band, Blue Monday. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University.
Patricia A. Alexander, Financial Advisor, focuses her asset management expertise on the legal profession. She has extensive experience working with attorneys and their clients and is intimately familiar with their unique financial requirements. She is especially conversant wit the implementation of the strict fiduciary duties owed by trustees, executors and administrators to heirs and beneficiaries.
Patricia also advises employers in the creation and oversight of qualified plans including 401(k), profit sharing and defined benefit plans. She consults with plan sponsors regarding their fiduciary responsibilities and assists sponsors in the conduct of their annual due diligence review of plan investments.
Patricia has prior professional experience at Crowell, Weedon & Co. and Hotchis & Wiley, where she was a founding member of the international equity department. Patricia holds a BSM from St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles.
